Conveyor Belt Splicing Methods
There are three main types of belts for belt conveyors: fabric core, whole core and wire rope core. There are three main methods of joining belts, namely mechanical belt buckling, cold bonding and hot vulcanisation. The physical properties and adhesion of the joint affect the strength of the belt joint.

The mechanical joint method is to connect the belt with a belt buckle, which is simple, fast and removable, but the joint vibrates and is noisy and can easily damage other parts of the belt such as the pulley. Installing mechanical joints on the entire core belt can be very effective and can also greatly reduce downtime and jointing costs. Mechanical buckles can also be used for wire rope core belts, but the life of the joint is very short and is not recommended for wire rope core belt joints.

The cold bonding method refers to the use of SK313 cold vulcanising bonding agent to bond the two joints together after the belt has been stripped to form a single unit. The utility model is characterised by high bond strength, simple operation and fast curing. It does not require expensive equipment during the jointing process and is ideal for production emergencies and can also be used for daily belt repair, but cold vulcanisation joints are not suitable for steel wire rope core belts.

The hot vulcanised joint method is used to bond the joint through the heating and pressure of the vulcaniser. Hot vulcanised joints are smooth, flat, strong and have a long service life. Hot vulcanised joints can be used on belts of any material and the joint is vulcanised with RIT core rubber, RIT top rubber and SK823 hot vulcanising agent to blend in with the belt rubber. However, hot vulcanised joints require specialist equipment, long running times and high costs.
