The idler in the belt conveyor is mainly used to support the conveyor belt and reduce the running resistance.
Due to its different assembly forms, it will affect the conveying capacity of the conveyor. In addition, idlers are the most numerous components in belt conveyors. Its assembly method has a great influence on the normal operation and use effect of the conveyor.
For the conveying capacity of the conveyor, the length of the intermediate idler should be shortened, so that in addition to improving the conveying capacity, the load on the conveyor can also be reduced.
When the groove angle is 30 degrees, the load of the middle idler is 70% of the total load, while the load of the idlers on both sides is only 14.5% of the total load. It can be seen that when conveying bulk materials, raw coal and other materials use equal-length idlers. The group is more reasonable, but it is reasonable to use a shortened intermediate idler when conveying granular materials such as coal powder, grain, sand, and chemical products.
The optimal length of the middle idler will gradually decrease with the increase of the dynamic accumulation angle of the material and the increase of the groove angle of the side idler.
When conveying bulk granular materials, if the required width of the industrial conveyor belt is not too large, it can be known that the optimal length of the intermediate idler ranges from the shortest to the longest.
Therefore, if the width of the conveyor belt you need is less than one meter, including one meter, you can widen the gap between the two idlers, cancel the middle idler, and form a double idler group. This is the reason why existing belt conveyors use double roller sets. The load on each idler is less than when select three idlers and will extend the service period.
